It's Official The United States Of America Is In A Recession: You Don't Have To Be Einstein To Figure That Out

December 2, 2008

By Meghan Chavalier

The official word today is that the United States Of America is in a recession, and has been since December 2007. It doesn't take being Einstein to figure that out. Have any of you tried to get a loan from your bank recently? If so, forget about it, the banks aren't lending money. I know many people who have tried to get loans since the huge bailout plan and have been turned down flat. Actually, banks aren't even being nice about saying no at this point, they read over your application and then turn you down, yet it seems new banks are popping up like Starbucks on every corner in Main Street USA. Let's break it down, huge bailout, no loans, but we have enough to build new banks where we won't give you new loans. Got that? Something stinks here, and it smells like more corporate bulls**t.

President George W. Bush, in an interview with ABC's "World News," expressed remorse about lost jobs, cracked nest eggs and other damage wrought by the financial crisis. "I'm sorry it's happening, of course," said Bush. The president said he'd back more government intervention.

Why that's a great idea, it seems to be working perfectly so far don't you think?

I feel that the problem is and always will be GREED. Our government has pushed so much on us for so long that we can't afford to keep up any longer. Think about it, in the last three days we've had Black Friday and Cyber Monday. What the hell are these two days even about? Go out and spend all of your money on crap you can't afford, get further into debt, and we'll just talk about it later? This is part of the problem, shoving stupid things like this down our throats, then making us feel guilty if we don't go out and do it. I didn't shop on Friday or Monday. I figure those days should be reserved for the people who can actually afford to go out and do it, and by the way things are going, I don't think many people should've done it either.

Wouldn't it be scary to coporate America if every person decided they were just sending Christmas cards this year instead of buying gifts? What if the whole country decided to make their own gifts this year?

Have you ever noticed when one holiday ends, another begins right away in every store across America? This year Halloween wasn't even over and they were already putting out the Christmas items at Walmart. So, in one aisle you could buy Halloween candy, and in the other aisle you could buy your Christmas tree. Does this make any sense to anyone reading this at all?

Who do we blame for our recession? Do we blame ourselves or do we blame the government? The government would never take the blame for anything, instead they pat themselves on the back every time they do anything, good or bad.

Ask yourself this. How far off are we from another Great Depression? It could happen, no matter what anyone thinks.
