Oliver North Throws His Unwanted Two Cents Worth In On "Don't Ask Don't Tell"

Who is Oliver North? Oliver Laurence North (born October 7, 1943) is a retired United States Marine Corps officer best known for his role in the Iran-Contra scandal.

North was at the center of national attention during the Iran-Contra affair, a political scandal of the late 1980s. North was a National Security Council member involved in the clandestine sale of weapons to Iran, which served to encourage the release of U.S. hostages from Lebanon. North formulated the second part of the plan: diverting proceeds from the arms sales to support the Contra rebel group in Nicaragua. North was charged with several felonies and convicted of three, but the convictions were later vacated, and the underlying charges dismissed due to the limited immunity agreement granted for his pre-trial public Congressional testimony about the affair.

Many consider Oliver North to be a traitor to his country because of his involvement in the scandal.

Oliver North, the retired colonel turned Fox News contributor, told the Hannity’s America audience last night that if gays are allowed to serve openly in the military, it opens the door for allowing pedophiles to serve openly.

North called the move to repeal the law a “stunning assault on the all-volunteer military, the very best in the world. Barack Obama now intends to treat them like lab rats in a radical social experiment, and it can be very, very detrimental.”

Moments later he added, “Now, here’s what’s next. NAMBLA (North American Man/Boy Love Association) members, same-sex marriages. Are chaplains in the U.S. military going to be required to perform those kinds of rituals? Do they get government housing?”

REALLY OLIVER NORTH? ARE YOU SERIOUS?

First, the majority of pedophiles in this country are heterosexual males. That is the truth. Second, what the hell does NAMBLA have to do with the discussion about "Don't Ask, Don't Tell?." Third, why does Oliver North know so much about NAMBLA?

NOW THESE ARE THE ACTUAL FACTS. Gays and lesbians have been serving in the military since the military has been around. The only reason you don't hear about gays and lesbians in the military is because if they were openly gay they wouldn't be allowed to serve. Repealing this stupid law would allow these honorable men and women to serve and not have to lie about their sexual orientation. Too many men and women who serve their country with dignity and honor are discharged each year for being gay or lesbian. Gays and lesbians should be allowed to serve openly and honestly, just as heterosexuals do. The debate is not a gay and lesbian issue, it is a equal rights issue. If Mr. North thinks that there are no gays and lesbians in the military right now at this very moment, he might just be the most ignorant person in America.

One would think that Oliver North should spend his time trying to clean up his image instead of weighing in on ANY issues. He is a walking, talking scandal and his past indiscretions prove this.

FOX "News" and I use the word "news' loosely should focus on doing what they do best...which is...well...what do they do over there at FOX that's even worth talking about?
